Talon Esports Parts Ways with Natsumi After Challenging Dota 2 Season

Talon Esports has officially announced the departure of John Anthony “Natsumi” Vargas from their Dota 2 roster, closing a brief yet eventful chapter in the organization’s competitive journey.

In a farewell post on social media, Talon expressed gratitude toward the Filipino carry player, acknowledging his contributions to the team's recent milestones. “Natsumi's journey with us led to our first LAN victory, and our first Tier 1 playoffs run since 2023,” the organization stated. “Thank you for all you’ve given us, and good luck on your next chapter, Et!”

A Season of Struggles

Natsumi joined Talon Esports for the 2024-2025 season, stepping into the carry role with hopes of revitalizing the roster following a turbulent previous year. However, despite flashes of potential, the team’s performance throughout the season fell short of expectations.

Under Natsumi’s tenure, Talon competed in five Tier 1 tournaments but failed to make a deep impact in any of them. The team consistently placed near the bottom of the standings, with their most notable showing being a 5th-6th finish at the Fissure Playground 1 tournament. Even then, their run ended abruptly with a 2-0 loss to Team Spirit in the lower bracket — a stark reminder of the uphill battle the team faced on the international stage.
