Into The Breach (ITB), a UK-based esports organization, has announced it is winding down operations, releasing all employees and players, including its recently acquired Dota 2 roster, Team Jigglin. This decision follows significant financial issues stemming from mismanagement and disputes tied to the organization's other teams, particularly the CS:GO roster. ITB is working with its legal team to navigate the winding-down process and manage remaining obligations.
The organization's CEO took responsibility for the collapse, attributing it to personal struggles with alcoholism and destructive tendencies, which led to poor leadership and financial decisions. A key issue involved a contractual dispute over Paris Major sticker revenue with the CS:GO roster. Players were owed $178,850.21 each but were overpaid $241,071.61 due to errors exacerbated by the CEO’s behavior. An additional $42,000 was underwritten personally, further destabilizing ITB’s finances. While the players were eventually paid in full, the financial strain and loss of trust highlighted deeper organizational issues.
TeaGuvnor, the coach of Team Jigglin, shared the team’s perspective, stating that they were unaware of ITB’s financial troubles tied to other rosters when they joined. He expressed that, had they known, they would have sought out a more stable organization. Despite being released, Team Jigglin remains determined to continue competing together and is actively “Looking for Org.”
This situation underscores the impact of leadership failures and financial mismanagement on an esports organization, leaving talented players and staff scrambling for opportunities in the aftermath of ITB’s decline.
